Our Story
Humble beginnings
It all began in 2001, when a group of jazz-loving friends got together at a private home at Maroochydore and formed the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club.
Self-confessed “jazz addict” Ted O’Connor was possibly the driving force to get them together.
From May that year every Sunday they hosted live jazz in the Courtyard at Alexandra Beach Resort with about 50 – 60 people turning up each weekend with local musicians from Brisbane and the Gold Coast entertaining the crowd.

A New Label Was Born
Over the years, the not-for-profit club has changed its venues and has moved its home to the Pelicans Room at Caloundra Power Boat Club where the membership and quality of entertainment has flourished.
A Place of Commitment and Creativity
The Heart of Balou
Names such as Galapagos Duck, Clarence Jazz Men, Trombone Kellie Gang, Ingrid James Quintet and The Jazz Kings have all loved the location overlooking the beautiful Pumicestone Passage and the tip of Bribie Island beyond.
